True Albino Teacher (TAT) is a substrain of Psilocybe cubensis known for its albino traits, producing pure white fruiting bodies of above-average potency. This strain carries all the qualities of the famous Golden Teacher strain but without any pigmentation. It was developed by a Shroomery user named “Jik Fibs,” who isolated the albino variation when cultivating Golden Teachers.
The True Albino Teacher mushroom is considered to have above-average potency. Based on tests conducted at the Psilocybin Cup, four samples of True Albino Teacher shrooms were submitted and had an average psilocybin content of 0.81% and a psilocin content of 0.06%, for a total tryptamine concentration of 0.87%. However, other privately tested samples have reached as high as 1.4% of total tryptamines. For comparison, the average Psilocybe cubensis strain is considered to hold somewhere between 0.5% and 0.9% total tryptamines2.
The True Albino Teacher strain has a few genetic relatives and variations. Some related strains in the Golden Teacher series include:
- Golden Teacher (GT): The parent strain of the True Albino Teacher variant. Golden Teacher is one of the most common strains of Psilocybe cubensis available and a popular choice for beginner cultivators.
- Golden Emperor (GE): An isolation of the Golden Teacher strain. It’s highly similar to the original strain but produces slightly larger fruiting bodies.
- Yeti Strain (YETI): Created by the same person who developed the True Albino Teacher variety, Jik Fibs. This strain was supposedly a genetic isolation of True Albino Teacher. It’s not strictly albino and can develop yellow or gold colorations on the caps as the fruiting bodies mature3.
